Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled Data Center Engineer who will be responsible for the design, maintenance, and management of our large-scale data center environment. The Data Center Engineer will be instrumental in ensuring the availability of our organization’s data resources and maintaining system efficiency. You will be tasked with monitoring system performance, configuring new hardware and software, and offering technical support to teams where necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design, and manage the data center infrastructure.
  • Monitor data center health using preexisting management tools and respond to hardware issues.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes.
  • Carry out maintenance tasks such as checking for viruses, managing backups, upgrading and patching software.
  • Evaluate, install, configure, and deploy new applications, software patches, updates, and hardware.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to users and other teams.
  • Perform disaster recovery operations and data backups when required.
  • Maintain and update documentation of procedures and configurations.
  • Ensure data center operates efficiently by analyzing operating costs, managing space, power, and cooling capacities.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure capacity plans.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in data center operations, IT operations, or a related area.
  • Strong knowledge of system and network architecture, with specific understanding of data center operations and data center infrastructure management.
  • Experience with hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in using testing, monitoring, installation, and scripting tools.
  • Understanding of critical facility operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills for providing technical support and explaining complex concepts to non-technical team members.

Preferred:

  • Certifications such as Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) or Certified Data Centre Specialist (CDCS) are a plus.
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases is beneficial.
